Lesson 6d: Shine Your Light
Objective: Learn
how to give and receive at 100%
|
When you remove conditions and barriers in your life, you
start to let your light shine. Light (energy) is a beacon for prosperity
and abundance. If
you look back on the lessons discussed in this educational series,
financial prosperity is not about taking special financial classes
to gain extra skills. Rather,
it is about:
- Differentiating between self-worth and net worth
- Understanding how fear influences your money habits
- Removing the barriers to prosperity in your life
These steps are meant to unveil your true-self. You were
born to let your light shine. It is what you learn during your
life that makes you shut down and cover up your light. You
learn that you may not be good enough. Or, that you need to make
a lot of money to be successful. And, it is the belief that you
may not be good enough that starts the process of dimming your light.
Letting your light shine is about showing and giving the
world 100% of who you are. You may think that
your employer is not treating you with the respect, or
giving you the money, that
you
deserve,
so
you do not work as hard or as well as you can, and so starts the downward
slide of covering up your light. Part of prosperity is giving all
that you have no matter what the conditions are. If you do not
like what is going on, still give your 110%. This does not mean
that you can not look elsewhere for a job. It only means that you
do not give less than who you truly are. The right job will find
you if your light is brightly shining.
The rule of prosperity is you do not get 100% in life
if you do not give 100%. So
do not expect to live an abundant and prosperous life if you do not give
100% of yourself. If you withhold from life, life will withhold
from you. Can you think of ways that you have withheld your
energy (light) in your life?
- How much time do you spend on non-work related activities while
at work (or work related activities at home)?
On average we spend over 2 hours of non-work related activities
at work.
- How many times do you feel that you are not good enough?
- When was the last time that you went above and beyond expectations
(on the job or at home)?
- When was the last time that you said, "That's not my job,"
to either your spouse, family, or boss?
- When was the last time you gave without any expectation of return?
How you will know that your light is shining?
- Being proactive
Is life happening to you or are you in charge of your life? If
you are blaming others, then you are letting life happen. If
you are learning new skills or taking classes, you are taking charge
of your life. Taking charge of life does not mean that you
are on the go all the time. It
means that you are not being held back from learning and growing,
whether
it is for work or for yourself.
- Giving to others
Are you holding back your giving until you know that you will
receive something in return? Letting your light shine
has no conditions. It means that you give what you have
without any expectations. This does not mean
that you allow others to take advantage of you, or that you give
money that you
do not have. Simply, when you give,
you expect nothing in return.
I have seen parents give
money (and toys) to their children in an attempt to be the best
parents that they can be, even while they are struggling financially. Yet,
this is not giving because you can not give what you do not have. Giving
means giving of yourself. If you give what you do not
have (time, money, or energy), you create debt and
you drain your resources. Taking
care of your own retirement is just as important as giving to
your children. In the end,
your children may benefit more from your time and attention rather
than money that you do not have.
- Shoulders back, chest out, and head held high
Your physical presence is a sign of your emotional condition. Those
that are proud of themselves show it by standing tall. They
radiate an energy of "I Am." Notice your
physical condition. Are
you slumped over your computer or laying on a sofa just drained
of energy? If so, notice how you feel by just pulling your
shoulders back. Don't you feel
more powerful?
- Self-worth
How is your self-worth? Are
you able to go to someone else and self-promote your worth? Letting
your energy shine is about knowing how many watts of power
you have in yourself. Are you a 20-watt light bulb or 200-watt
light bulb?
- Passion
What energy is driving you day to day? If you live
just to get by, then your motor is running low on energy. If
you live for a higher purpose, then this
magnifies
your light (puts it into overdrive). So what are you passionate
about?
Exercise: Take a few minutes
and think about the following questions:
- What has been keeping you from living at 110%?
- What can you do to shine
more of your light (give more of your energy)? Come up
with 1 or 2 ideas that you tape to your bathroom mirror to remind
yourself each day.
